If You Think Introducing A Newborn Baby To Your Dogs Is Hard, Let The Kanakas Show You How

If You Think Introducing A Newborn Baby To Your Dogs Is Hard, Let The Kanakas Show You How

Bridget Kimpton December 12, 2020

Most pawrents who treat their furballs like their children often have a hard time introducing their dogs to their newborn kid. More often than not, the pups end up feeling jealous and displaying resentment towards the new member of their family, especially since the baby most likely takes up most, if not all, of the humans’ time.

In a YouTube video posted last August 5, 2020, Rocky Kanaka and his wife Kelly shows the world how they introduced their newborn baby Capri to their furbabies: Flip, Zoey, and Kobe.

Flip

Rocky and Kelly started by isolating Flip, the first dog they introduced to Capri, from the rest of the pack. They then left Flip to smell Capri’s towel so he could get used to the baby’s scent. Finally, they let Flip slowly approach Capri so they could get acquainted. Instantly, Flip knew he was a big brother, and he immediately went into protector mode.

Zoey

Zoey was the princess of the family before Capri came along. Aware that she had been dethroned, Zoey clearly exhibited her unwillingness to get to know the new member of the Kanaka family. After refusing to smell Capri’s towel, Zoey also tried to steer clear of Kelly and Capri when they tried to approach the pup.

Hoping to help Zoey get used to Capri’s presence, Rocky tried to get the two girls as close to each other as possible. Aware that the change is also too much for Zoey to handle, Rocky allowed her to take some time alone.

Kobe

After coming out of a heart surgery, Kobe, who is also a blind puppy, got a chance to meet his human sister. Aware that Kobe is still a puppy with an unpredictable energy, Rocky closely watched as the Cane Corso tried to get to know Capri. What happened next is a heartwarming moment between puppy and baby.
