Sunny is a six-month-old homeless pooch that frequently stays in an abandoned lot next to a busy road in Bali. He didn’t have any roof over his head and would frequently spend the night sleeping on the ground.
The scrawny pup has led a miserable and lonely life, and if he didn’t get any help, that would have been the case for the rest of it.
According to witnesses, the small dog has been hit several times by various vehicles, but he has been lucky so far to escape only with minor injuries. Thankfully, a nonprofit dog rescue group took interest in the pup and took him off the streets.
Scared of humans
The pup was the subject of multiple rescues before. But because he was afraid of people, he would usually run away whenever he sensed someone coming near him. This made any rescue efforts potentially dangerous as the dog could run into the traffic and get fatally hit.
A rescue team from Bali rescue Dog Squad, an animal charity organization, decided to take it slow and earn the dog’s trust first. Rescuers patiently waited from a distance, trying to get the puppy comfortable with their presence. They offered him food and water.
Slowly, the dog became relaxed around them, and after three days, Sunny came up to them. The pup allowed one of them to carry him and put him inside their vehicle.
Safety and comfort
Sunny was taken to the organization’s facility, where he was cleaned up, fed, and given a safe and comfortable place to rest. Before he was put up for adoption, they had to fatten him up first. It didn’t take long for the pup to get a healthy weight and, more importantly, learn how to trust humans.
Several weeks after he was taken off the streets, Sunny had been adopted and is now living happily with his forever family.
