One day, construction workers were astonished to find a huge dog lounging in the middle of their work area. At that time, they were excavating small tunnels in which they would install the foundation and piping. It was extremely unsafe to have a dog lying around, so they attempted to make him move but the dog refused.
One woman called Hope for Paws, a Los Angeles-based non-profit dog rescue organization, out of concern that the dog may become fearful and hostile if they coerced him. Eldad, the organization’s founder, accompanied his fellow rescuer Loretta to the construction site on the same day.
When they first got to the location, they immediately began to secure it. They did not wish for the dog to flee. As the location was already surrounded by a fence, they only needed to erect a temporary enclosure at the entry. However, the dog had no intention of running or even moving.
With a hamburger in hand, Loretta approached the dog with caution. The rescuers immediately recognized that he had been recently abandoned. The dog appeared healthy and lacked the obvious characteristics of a street dog. He was not immobile due to illness or injury, but rather because he was puzzled and terrified of his predicament.
Loretta attached a leash on the dog’s neck as he ate the hamburger she had served him. However, when she attempted to guide him out of the parking lot, he refused. Initially, he stood up, but after a few steps, he laid back down. The next alternative was to crate him and transport the enormous dog to their vehicle.
It required the combined efforts of the two rescuers and the woman who contacted them to place the dog in their vehicle.
A veterinarian verified their first diagnosis. The dog was in good physical health. However, he was emotionally crushed. He could not accept that his owners had abandoned him.
The dog, now named Odin, was vaccinated, neutered, and implanted with a microchip after being bathed.
Odin was then taken to a foster family, where he will get care. They will attempt to rehabilitate and pull him out of his shell. Eventually, he will be healthy enough to be adopted, and he will join a loving family.
