Concerned residents of a neighborhood in Detroit called for help after they noticed a severely neglected dog living nearby. He was very emaciated and chained outdoors with no shelter to protect him from the sweltering heat.
Volunteers from a nonprofit animal charity organization called Home Fur-Ever were sent to check on the dog. What they found broke their hearts. The pit bull’s bones were sticking out of his skin, and he had a lot of infected wounds on his face. They interviewed the neighbors, and what they learned shocked them.
Abandoned
Apparently, the dog’s owners moved out, and it has been a month since they left. They never bothered to find a new owner or surrender the dog to the local shelter. They simply left him to die alone.
They also learned that the pup was kept outside his entire life. He had a short chain and was never taken off it. There used to be a female dog with him, and she too was kept in a chain. This pooch jumped over the fence and tried to escape, but she ended up strangling herself.
Thankfully, the male dog was rescued before anything worse could happen.
Rescued
Despite being neglected all his life, the pit bull had an amazing character. When the rescuers got near to set him free, he started wagging his tail and didn’t show any signs of aggression. The poor pooch was then taken to a vet, where he received medical treatments.
After he was released, the dog, who was named Beau, was taken in by one of the group’s foster volunteers. They will ensure that he will continue to receive treatments and regular proper care.
Hopefully, Beau will be adopted by a loving family when he fully recovers. And this time, he will be shown the love and care that he never received before from his previous owners.
