When Marine Cpl. Justine Bunce met his service dog, he was recuperating from injuries he sustained in Iraq. They met through the nonprofit group Canine Warrior Connection. The dog was named Bunce, after Justine.
The dog was still in training at that time, but the two Bunces have already formed a relationship that was gradually growing. Justine worked closely with Bunce to train him to become a qualified service dog for combat veterans.
Despite his injuries, Marine Cpl. Justine Bunce devoted his time to assisting other soldiers injured in battle. It was his way of helping himself while also helping others like him.
The Warrior Canine Connection is a non-profit organization devoted to reintegrating our military personnel into society. The objective of the organization is to recruit recovering troops to engage with and teach puppies and adult dogs. After the dogs have completed their service dog training, they will be matched with wounded soldiers who need them.
The organization believes that contact between humans and dogs is an excellent approach to assist recovering troops in reconnecting with their families and society. So far, their strategy is working well.
Justine is a hero despite the fact that he is no longer on the battlefield. What he is doing at the Warrior Canine Connection today shows to the world that he is still really focused and loves what he does.
Justine is still recovering from his injuries, but the video here shows the effect that Bunce has on the injured veterinarian. Once Justine begins having Bunce around as his full-time service dog, we certainly believe that his situation will improve even more.
Being needed is vital to the healing process for our brave warriors. Thanks to the Warrior Canine Connection for assisting our injured service members in leading productive lives after life in service.
