Vesna Mihajoski, a dog rescuer from Serbia, received reports about a lonely German Shepherd who spent countless hours guarding a grave at the local cemetery. Because of her devotion to that particular spot, people assumed that the grave belonged to the canine’s owner. Her loyalty and devotion made the pooch very popular among the locals.
The residents were impressed with the German Shepherd’s loyalty to her former owner. She truly embodied the dedication that dogs are famous for. But they didn’t know that the pooch wasn’t there for that reason. She wasn’t owned by whoever was buried there. In fact, she was a stray dog.
Vesna figured it out when she went to rescue the homeless canine.
Among the dead
When multiple people asked the kind rescuer to save the dog, she quickly went out to see the pooch. When she got to the grave site, she was shocked to discover that the dog had dug a small cave underneath the tombstone. The German Shepherd was sleeping inside, making the site her home. Vesna felt sad for the pooch.
When she got closer, she was met with a surprise. Inside the shallow burrow were several puppies. The German Sheperd was keeping them warm and safe, close by her side. Thankfully, the mama dog was not aggressive and allowed Vesna to get near her babies.
Brighter future
Vesna took the exhausted mama dog and her litter to the local shelter where they can have a safe and very comfortable place to rest. The German Shepherd also got the nourishment she needed so she could continue to nurse her babies. At that time, the puppies were malnourished.
After only several days, the family started flourishing. The pups grew bigger and became more active. The mother dog was also visibly relaxed. The shelter workers hope that within a few weeks, the puppies would grow stronger and all of them will find loving forever homes, including their mom.
