It is just painful to think about the animals devastated by natural disasters such as floods and storms.
Several regions of the United States were impacted by Hurricane Dorian. When the hurricane struck the Bahamas, a good Samaritan did what she could to shelter as many dogs as possible.
Before the hurricane struck New Providence, Chella Philips had already taken in and housed a large number of stray dogs. Due to the confusion of the situation, these canines are either stray, abandoned, or lost.
During this time, she has temporarily acquired a total of 97 dogs. Philips posted a beautiful Facebook update regarding the dogs.
In the post, Philips shared photographs of the dogs relaxing, playing, and exploring their new home. She stated that more than 70 of the 97 dogs have taken up residence in her master bedroom. In addition, she stated that the situation has become ridiculous since they began rescuing dogs. The dogs are quite respectful, and none had tried to get on the bed.
The Voiceless Dogs of Nassau is a dog sanctuary in New Providence, Bahamas and it is managed by Philips. They prepare homeless canines for adoption after taking them in.
During the hurricane, they barricaded the shelter to ensure the safety of the rescued canines. Chella stated that they were playing music and running the air conditioner to make the dogs comfortable.
She was grateful that she had been able to take in some stray dogs. She thanked all donors for their generosity. Some individuals sent crates, which are just what some of the terrified and ill dogs need. There were also some who sent food and other necessary stuff that the animals needed. These would help care for the animals and give them a good life during their stay.
Chella added that there was still a great number of stray dogs in the Bahamas, and she longed for their safety.
