Rescuers from Howl of a Dog, a non-profit animal organization in Resita, Romania, were driving back to the shelter at the end of a workday. Suddenly, they chanced upon a beautiful black dog sitting on the grass right beside a busy road.
When one animal worker walked up to her, she slinked away with her tail tucked between her legs. She was scared and kept trying to hide from the woman, who was gently coaxing her to come out from behind a post.
As the rescue was unexpected, the volunteers didn’t have many treats left with them. They had to ask a friend to come over and bring some more so they could get the pooch, whom they named Tina, to trust them.

It was a challenging endeavor. As soon as Tina saw an opportunity, she fled from the humans. It was a miracle she didn’t get run over by one of the passing vehicles.
The canine ate some of the treats the rescuers were giving her, but she was still nervous in their presence, so she ran off into the woods. However, Tina’s escape worked to the volunteers’ advantage.
Once the surroundings were quieter and no vehicles were rushing by, they found it easier to build rapport with the mutt. Tina began to calm down, and soon, she was eating from a rescuer’s hand. Afterward, they slipped a leash around her neck and brought her to a clinic.
Besides suffering from parasites infesting her fur, Tina had discharge coming out of her eyes and nose so the doctors were worried that she might have canine distemper. Fortunately, the test came out negative. With just a few days of treatment, the dog’s eyes stopped watering.
The pretty dog went to a loving fur mom called Dawn, and she now lives in Pennsylvania with Betty, her new canine sister. Tina has always loved strolling outside and watching things going on around her with great interest, and that didn’t change at all in her forever home.
