A Dog Is Adopted Without Any Consent From Its Owner Since She Is Confined In A Hospital

A Dog Is Adopted Without Any Consent From Its Owner Since She Is Confined In A Hospital

Bridget Kimpton July 15, 2022

During a woman’s hospitalization, the medical team assured her that her dog would be safe at an animal shelter. Instead, she returned to find that her dog that is also her closest friend had been adopted while she was gone.

After suffering from a nervous breakdown, Denise McCurrie was sent to the hospital, where she stayed for over two weeks. A New York animal sanctuary stepped in to care for her 6-year-old Schnauzer called Roscoe, who had no one else to really look after him.

Denise, who suffers from depression and anxiety, has Roscoe as an emotional support dog. Roscoe has been a family member since he was a puppy. When Denise was experiencing a mental collapse, he dialed 911. She lives alone and requested that Roscoe be looked after when the medical team arrived.

They transported the dog to the city’s animal shelter, which has been involved in a number of high-profile abuse and killing cases. It was Denise’s only other option at the time.

Throughout her hospital stay, Denise called the center several times to ensure her safety. They soon revealed to her some upsetting information.

Roscoe had been successfully adopted by one of the animal care center’s rescue groups and he had already been given a new name. The staff informed her that she would almost certainly not be getting her precious dog back. Denise claimed they failed to provide her with a satisfactory explanation for why this happened.

Denise called the animal control hotline several times to inform them that Roscoe was her dog. He was, however, sent to a shelter after three days due to a lack of tags and a microchip. Unidentified dogs, however, are required by state law to be detained in a pound for five days.

Officers who first encountered Roscoe said he was in horrible shape. The dog, however, was inspected by veterinarians and found to be healthy, with the exception of an ear infection that Denise’s physician was already treating. Officials also alleged that there was a man at Denise’s house when they picked up the dog, despite the fact that she swore that no one else lives there.

Among those who have really come out in support of Denise is Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal. Denise stated that she would go to any extent to regain her dog, including paying fees and visiting her dog. She spends her days trying to remedy this dilemma by making phone calls.

Many questions remain unresolved in this case, but it is clear that Denise adores her dog. Everything will hopefully be resolved soon, but what matters most is that Roscoe is safe.
