Fourth of July is certainly one of the occasions when our canines experience fear the most. Our dogs have nothing against the celebration, but they are scared of the fireworks associated with this major event. Dogs typically hide in their dens or comfort zones when the fireworks are going off, though a good number do tend to flee.
Unfortunately for dog owners Mary Lynn Whitcare and Ryan Washick, their rescue dog, Rajah, fits the latter description. Mary Lynn stated that this is not the first time their pet has escaped. On average, though, they are able to find her and return her home within five minutes. During the Fourth of July celebrations, however, Rajah disappeared for eight hours!
This indicates that the loud explosions created by pyrotechnics have an effect on our dogs.
Mary Lynn and Ryan attempted to find Rajah in their South Carolina hometown of Simpsonville. Unfortunately, there were no traces of their lost pet.
The couple, exhausted from the festivities and the search for their dog, decided to call it a night. In the early and wee hours of the morning, however, they were saved from the need to look for their dog. Rajah returned to their home at 3 a.m. and even rang the doorbell!
Ryan believed that a nice Samaritan had located and returned their lost dog. However, he was astonished to see only Rajah at the front door. The dog used her nose to ring the doorbell, then waited patiently for her owners to open the door.
Mary Lynn said that she could not stop giggling when she realized that her dog was ringing the doorbell since they were unaware that Rajah knew how it operated. As a result of the dog’s intellect, the doorbell’s camera recording quickly became viral on social media and the number of views keep going up!
