A Stolen Yorkie’s Microchip Leads Her Back To Her Worried Fur Mom

A Stolen Yorkie’s Microchip Leads Her Back To Her Worried Fur Mom

Bridget Kimpton November 5, 2022

Everyone enjoys Christmas miracles because they give us a warm, fuzzy feeling inside and restore our faith that a higher force is watching over us. This story is about one, and it is about Harley, a Yorkshire terrier.

Barbara Milburn, a resident of Tucson, Arizona, owned Harley. She treated Harley as if she were her own daughter, and the pair was inseparable. Having Harley around was essential to fill the void left by her children, especially since they were all grown up and had their own families.

In December 2014, however, Barbara had endured the worst Christmas ever. Intruders broke into her home and stole her prized possessions. Harley was unfortunately among those that were taken by the intruders.

Losing her possessions made Barbara really sad. But it was losing Harley that made her feel really down. She tried posting flyers and ads for her dog, but no one contacted her.

Eventually, Barbara was forced to stop her search for Harley. She was no longer actively looking for her, but Barbara kept her old phone number even after she relocated to Mississippi. This number was stored on Harley’s microchip, and she kept her number in case someone found her dog. It really turned out to be the very best choice she had ever made.

In December 2018, four years after Harley had been taken, she received a phone call from a Tucson animal shelter. One of the Pima Animal Care Center’s employees informed her that a Yorkie had been rescued, and its microchip led them to her. It was Harley!

Samantha, Barbara’s daughter, was still living in Tucson so she was the one who picked up the dog on behalf of her mother. A few days later, Barbara returned to her hometown to reconnect with her pet. It was a Christmas miracle and the nicest Christmas gift she had ever received.
