Large dog breeds, including the Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd, are considered ideal police dogs. We often do not consider a gawky Beagle who barely follows a single command good for such a job. However, Auggie, a Beagle, is a proud member of the Susquehanna Township Police Department.
Auggie has a unique role in the department. He is the source of affection and happiness for everyone entering the police station. Auggie dearly loves his job.
Although Auggie is an energetic, friendly, and lively pup, he was a stray dog when the police found him. He was not physically well. However, he had a collar, so the police thought he had an owner.
Although the police dearly adored Auggie, they had no choice but to bring him to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area for medical treatment. The shelter and the police tried to search for Auggie’s owner.
After living in a shelter for a month, no one claimed Auggie. Happily, before Auggie could even be adopted, the police officers willingly fostered him. He eventually lived in the police station.
Auggie is now a member of the police force. He stays in the station throughout the day. Auggie has a sufficient supply of food and water. His bed can even be seen on every wall of the station. He brings happiness to the police officers and individuals visiting the station.
With Auggie’s presence in the department, everyone, including police officers and regular individuals, is filled with joy. Auggie puts a smile on everyone’s faces. With that, the police station seems to be a convenient place to stay. Although it appears that Auggie might not be considered an ideal police dog, he indeed performs his job very well.
Here is the adorable video of Auggie.
