When Taylor and Amber Newsom were tucking their girls into bed, they heard Marley, their dog, barking wildly. The parents rushed to check what was wrong because their pet rarely made loud noises.
They were surprised to find a strange man wielding a knife in their living room when they arrived. However, before the intruder could do anything, their fearless dog pounced at him and began biting him.
The man became terrified and began to retreat to a corner. When Taylor found an opening, he pounced and began punching the man as well. When the intruder began waving his weapon around, the dog was hit six times on her body and face. Taylor was even stabbed by the man.
When the homeowner and his dog took a step back, the invader bolted and fled. Amber dialed 911 as soon as she realized her husband and their pet were hurt. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
Medics treated Taylor and Marley’s injuries right afterward, and the couple immediately filed a police report. Later, the armed suspect was found hiding in a creek near their home. He was charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and cruelty to animals.
Marley is their hero, as the couple had claimed in an interview. They believed that if she hadn’t been there to defend them, the situation would have gotten much worse. The man had the potential to harm them and their children.
Marley has always been protective of their family, according to Taylor. What she did for them did not really surprise him. But he is awestruck by how determined she was to keep the intruder at bay.
Taylor and Marley have both recovered from their injuries. The dog has returned to her charming self, and she has been loving the extra treats she receives as a reward.
