Winter is just around the corner, and dog owners should be more careful when they let their pets out during this time of the year. One must observe safety measures when you walk your pup in an area where there is a frozen pond, lake, or river.
One Border Collie got partially stuck in a frozen pond in Caroll, New York. Thankfully, firefighters rushed to the scene and were able to save the pup.
The dog’s icy situation
The Frewsburg Fire Company shared on Facebook how its firefighters saved a dog whose hind legs got stuck in a frozen pond. Tux, the Border Collie in question, got in this icy situation while he was roaming the area.
When the firefighters promptly arrived at the scene, they found Tux struggling to maneuver his body out of the water. But when the dog saw the firefighters, he got excited and was able to crawl out towards them. Luckily, the ice was thin, and the firefighters were able to extricate the dog without any hassles.
A couple of pictures showed the rescuers dipped past their waists in the cold water. Cables were attached to their shoulders to keep them safe. Once Tux was safely removed from the water, the rescuers carried him back to the shore where they warmed and dried him up using the fire engine.
The Border Collie is all right
Tux was immediately reunited with his family. The pup’s owners said that the Border Collie was already back to his normal self and seemed happy.
Once Tux’s rescue story was shared on Facebook, it garnered a handful of likes and shares. A lot of people flocked to the comments section to share their positive sentiments. One commenter thanked the firefighters on behalf of all animal lovers. Another Facebook user exclaimed that the rescuers rocked for showing another selfless act to save a furry family member.
