Border collies are excellent sheepherders. They have been specifically bred for this purpose. Nonetheless, some collies perform this duty better than others, particularly those who have greater and more experience.
Kelly is an excellent example of a border collie that has mastered the skill of herding. When her owner requires a trustworthy dog, she is the one that her owner calls to get the job done. Kelly is also responsible for training new dogs that her owner brings to the farm. This just proves just how reliable the dog is and how well she does her role.
For the past nine years, Kelly has been an excellent sheep herder. She is exceptionally talented, but one thing has changed. Kelly became ill and she was unable to adequately digest the regular meals that were served to her. Hence, the dog’s owner has to prepare special meals for her daily.
Nonetheless, Kelly’s health has no bearing on her ability to fulfill her responsibilities. But, her owner understood that his dog would not be around forever. As a result, the owner ensured that Kelly’s herding techniques were taught to additional border collies.
Kelly’s everyday activities included more than just employment. She usually spends time with her siblings in the countryside. Her owner would observe them and ponder the day when they would both retire.
Recently, a new border collie was added to the family. Jay was keen to acquire the necessary abilities for sheep herding. His inexperience became clear during his first attempts at herding. Thankfully, Kelly was available to instruct him.
There will eventually come a day when Kelly is incapable of herding. When this occurs, her siblings will succeed her and continue her legacy. Yet, she is not quite prepared for retirement and can continue working for a few more years.
