The famous dog rescue group known as Hope For Paws learned about a scared dog living beside a busy street in Los Angeles. People living in the area were scared that he would run into traffic and be struck by a car as vehicles continued to pass by.
Two of the group’s rescuers, JoAnn Wiltz and Lisa Arturo, went to save the dog. They instantly saw the perfect opportunity to capture the dog upon their arrival at the location.
The animal entered an enclosed yard that had only one exit. With an agreement with the property owner, the women secured the area by putting up a detachable plastic fence around the dog.
After the area was secured, Lisa tried to get the dog’s trust. Initially anxious and confused, the animal did not understand that the women were there to help him. He barked at them, but made no attempt to flee or escape.
The rescuers understood the importance of giving the dog time to adjust to their presence. Lisa sat down with him and attempted to pet him so he might become accustomed to their presence.
After calming down, the dog allowed his rescuer to touch him with her bare hands. Lisa was soon able to place the Lucky Leash around the dog’s neck within seconds.
Lisa and JoAnn agreed that Solo would be the best name for the dog. They scanned Solo for a microchip, but he did not have one. They did not really know that much about him or his origin, but they pledged to give him the life he deserved.
Solo was quite timid and hesitant around others at first. Another group, PAL Rescue, promised to care for him until he found his forever family. They helped him develop his social abilities, and through their care and love, he realized that humans weren’t actually all that frightening.
Now, Solo is prepared to join his new family, and he hopes to meet them soon.
