The COVID-19 pandemic not only instilled fear in the hearts of people. It also separated people from their family and friends. Since the COVID-19 virus is not easily detectable, the only way to make sure that you will not be afflicted with it is to keep your distance from everyone at all costs.
That said, those who are considered “high risk” were left with no other choice but to lock themselves up in their respective homes. Sadly, most of those considered to be “high risk” are elderly people. So for months, these elderly people were forced to live alone, away from their beloved families and pets.
Longing for “Grandpa”
Now, since humans are aware of the risks, they understand fully the need to be separated from their respective loved ones. The temporary separation could save lives and eventually lead to a longer time together once the risk is gone.
Unfortunately, pets are not aware that there is a pandemic. For them, the fact that their humans are staying at home more often than they used to is just a special treat. And, the fact that some of their humans have not been visiting them for several months is something that is saddening and inexplicable.
A tail-wagging reunion
When the pandemic forced Melissa Vasilikii’s “high risk” father to isolate himself for an entire year, her dog longed for her father terribly. According to Melissa, her dog loves her father above anyone else. And because the dog was unable to understand the situation, all the dog could do was just sit around and wait for Melissa’s father to show up at their door.
Soon, that day came. After months of separation, Melissa’s father paid her a visit, and her dog could not help but express his excitement. In a video shared with the Instagram account “Upworthy,” the dog can be heard whimpering and seen trying his hardest to get past a gate so he could run into the arms of Melissa’s father.
