Cleo, a four-year-old dog, vanished from his home in Olathe, Kansas, only to be discovered a few days later at the family’s former residence in Lawson, Missouri, where they had resided nearly two years prior. The new owners of the house, Colton Michael and his wife, got home from a long day to find the dog snoozing on the front porch of their home. Cleo’s immaculate appearance led the couple to believe that she belonged to someone.
Michael looked for a microchip as Cleo did not have a collar on. Thankfully, she had one, and it had the name of her owner. Michael stated that his wife was the one who recognized that Cleo’s owner shared the same surname as the previous homeowner. That led them to believe that this dog belonged to them.
With that in mind, he went on Facebook to view the owner’s page and discovered that the family dog had been missing for about a week. Michael contacted the owner immediately and informed him of Cleo’s location.
Both families had absolutely no idea how the dog had gotten there. They could only speculate that Cleo went 57 miles from her current residence in Kansas to her previous one in Missouri. It must have been sheer luck that Cleo recalled her way back home, despite the fact that her family hadn’t visited their old home in several years.
Drew, the dog’s owner, was ecstatic knowing that the animal had arrived safely, regardless of how or why she traveled back to their old home.
Nothing could express his gratitude to Michael’s family for aiding Cleo, he added. He continued by saying that he felt complete now that Cleo was back in his arms. However, not every story about a lost pet has a good ending.
Thankfully, Cleo was able to return home without incident.
