Amanda Vermeer used to work at a camping ground near a lake and still frequents it whenever possible. She shared that she often sees a dog swimming happily across the pond, and surprisingly, no one is alarmed or surprised by it.
It turns out that everybody knows who the dog is, and that is the 10-year-old neighborhood pooch named Thunder. Thunder is known for being the friendliest four-legged sweetheart that ever walked the town.

Nobody knew when Thunder’s daily swimming trips from his house to the campground, found on the other side of the lake, began. However, he has been doing it every day for as long as anybody could remember.
Thunder’s family did all they could to try and stop him from swimming across the lake, but he never fails to find ways to make it happen. Amanda believes that the swim across the lake is Thunder’s favorite part of his day, next to roaming around from campsite to campsite and meeting new people.
Thunder loves saying hi to everyone, even looking excited to see how long it would take before he gets caught. Amanda shared that some campers even offer Thunder some little food scraps, which is a total bonus for being such a good boy.
Amanda shared whoever notices Thunder always ends up calling his owner to inform him that their dog had yet again another excursion to the other side of the lake. She said that campground regulars and all the locals already have Thunder’s dad’s number on their speed dial because they know they need it when they see him.
Amanda recalled that Thunder’s tail would immediately start wagging as soon as he hears his human dad’s truck coming because he knows just exactly who came to pick him up. She shared that seeing Thunder swim across the lake and spending time with him is the highlight of her day.
