With the world currently on lockdown, most of us have started to feel the stress of self-isolation. The liberties we took for granted have now been restricted, and we have all been advised to stay indoors until the coronavirus situation is under control.
With limitations imposed on any kind of social gathering, we all needed to adjust and meet with friends online instead. The lack of physical contact with our loved ones has been difficult for most of us. Even our dogs, who usually enjoyed having regular walks outside, have started to feel the burden of being quarantined.
One particular homely English bulldog has been suffering from a case of lockdown blues. Before the pandemic happened, Big Poppa was used to hanging out with the neighborhood kids and greeting everyone he met during his regular walks. Being a friendly animal, he started to feel down and sad about the sudden changes that prevented him from going outside to play.
His owner, Rashida Ellis, snapped a photo of the poor dog’s dejected form as he gazed down the street behind the railings of their patio. He wanted to play with some kids downstairs, but the new rule on social distancing made it complicated.
The lockdown has started to take its toll on the sweet dog, making him act sluggish and tired all the time. Without the freedom to interact with other people, Big Poppa’s face expressed his displeasure and unhappiness at being kept inside the house.
Big Poppa’s photo soon became viral, with most people empathizing with the dog’s misery. Within 24 hours, it received over 650,000 likes, 72,500 retweets, and almost a thousand comments. Many were able to relate to the pup’s disappointment and sent comforting messages for the depressed dog.
Rashida said her lovable bulldog started to feel better after receiving much love online. But we’re pretty sure he wants the lockdown to be over and done with as soon as possible.
