It’s easy to understand why German Shepherds are a popular breed. They’re intelligent, loyal, and just plain adorable. But did you know that they’re also amazing hunters?
That’s right, German Shepherds are bred for hunting. And while they may not be like lions in terms of prowess, they still could make any prey nervous.
What goes on during a hunt? As this dog displayed, first, a predator spots and analyzes its prey. In this story, the predator’s the dog, and the prey’s a bird.
Second, this dog planned on how to take the bird down. The GSD looked around, checking to see what other things could hinder its plans.
The GSD’s third and final move was to crouch down and spring for the prey in a surprise attack. We could see this dog’s seriousness about capturing that bird.
We knew that things were about to go down when the GSD crouched low and then sprang into action. Don’t worry, no bird was harmed during this little episode.
This dog’s impressive hunting skills are a result of its strong prey drive. German Shepherds were originally bred to help hunters with their game, and that instinct is still alive and well today.
While not all German Shepherds will be as successful in their hunts like this one, it’s still impressive to see what they’re capable of.
If they can spring on unsuspecting birds like that with an intent to capture them, they would be successful. Fortunately, this doggo was just doing the hunt for love of the game.
Otherwise, that pretty bird wouldn’t be fluttering and prancing around on a green lawn. That fowl might have had a good heart workout, but nothing bad happened to it.
Thanks for making our day today, doggo. Inserted fun in the word hunt, and yes, it was delightful to see!
