Mary had been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety. The disease kept her indoors for days, and she could not even have a glance at her pouch. Sometimes, she couldn’t even notice that her trees flowered during the springtime.
Mary didn’t want to give in to the disease but wanted to burst away in freedom and have her happy days back. To get back on track, she needed someone. After much thought, she decided to look for a dog. Her decision would change her life forever.
The following day, she visited the Seattle Humane Society, an animal safety organization. Society holds many dog breeds, and settling on one would be an uphill task. A staff member gave her an eight-year-old dog named Jasper. As if the dog chose her, it came and sat by her side and never wanted to go. Without a doubt, Mary knew she found the dog she wanted.
Since the dog had been enclosed for a long time since it parted with her previous parents, she needed daily walks. It was the first win for Mary. She got a companion to help her get out of the house.
Jasper had more surprises in store. Whenever Mary would experience anxiety and panic attacks, Jasper would lie and snivel at her to engage her. It was a big deal for Mary, significantly contributing to her recovery.
Their relationship was unshaken. They were tightly knit, allowing Mary to start a dog medical alert service. With the few tricks she learned from Jasper, she has trained over 150 dogs.
Unfortunately, five years into their stay, Jasper had already hit old age and passed away. Mary brought home an eight-week-old dog named Liam to recover from her loss. She is sweet and playful, but it will take time before Liam can fit into Jasper’s shoes. You can watch Jasper and Mary’s story in this video.
