There are varying degrees of blindness. Some blind individuals can make out vague shapes from their surroundings; some are in complete darkness. The same applies to blind dogs. The following story is an example of two blind dogs who can still navigate their environment with relative ease.
Luna and Lily are pit bulls who are sisters. Both of them are blind, so they are always by each other’s side. Fortunately, they got adopted together.
The sisters know how to find each other reliably. They are like each other’s safety blanket. They sleep together and play together.
Luna and Lily love carrying things for their owner. They usually carry groceries and mail. As it became more of a regular occurrence, they eventually carried other stuff as well.
It’s rare to see dogs that love carrying items so much. Whenever their owner tells them that the groceries are ready, the two would come along. While they transport items, Luna and Lily do not look at each other, but they can sense how close they are from one another.
The sisters were left a shelter with a note saying, “Hey, we are looking for a foster family.” When Jamie, the current owner, saw them, she knew she wanted to take care of the adorable duo. She wanted the two dogs to live together.
Since Luna and Lily were blind since birth, they show a level of fearlessness. Perhaps they became brave knowing they can rely on each other. Luna and Lily love to do new things together.
It’s hard to imagine these two pit bulls separated. When Jamie got a new car, Luna and Lily loved it. They would rush to the door every time they hear the car keys.
The two pit bulls are also very social. They love interacting with strangers. Some people had no clue that Luna and Lily were blind. It’s because of how charming and charismatic they are when meeting people.
