Police Dog Mako has been a member of the Western Australia Police Force for years. Since he joined the department, PD Mako has been a huge help in tracking down criminals as well as making the entire community a much safer place to live in. The officers often share the dedicated canine’s achievements on their social media page, but recently, they also showed how friendly PD Mako can be.
In adorable footage, the excited police dog was caught making friends with a pair of dolphins. The video was taken on Wednesday when PD Mako was at Swan River. He looked so curious and kept following the dolphins as he watched them swim back and forth.
PD Mako was on the riverbank, occasionally leaning in and hoping to get a little closer to the marine creatures. Meanwhile, the dolphins also happily watched the canine cop’s movements, much to PD Mako’s delight. As it turns out, the pup’s name means shark in Maori. It is also the name of two shark species – Shortfin Mako and Longfin Mako.
Western Australia Police Force posted the curious dog’s video on their Facebook page and it received thousands of views and reactions. Social media users were delighted to watch the clip, saying it was like the dolphins knew that PD Mako will visit them.
One commenter noted how precious the moment was. She said she could tell that the sea creatures were talking to the canine cop and letting him know that they were doing fine. Another commenter also pointed out how the pup got his name right.
While it seemed like a fun day off of work for PD Mako, others said that it was as if the dolphins knew that the canine cop was on duty, diligently looking after them. Whatever the case was, one thing is for sure – PD Mako and the pair of dolphins had a surprisingly adorable bond.
