When you see a dog in need of help, may you extend a hand with your whole heart. Just like this volunteer who saw a dog who needed help in a gas station a few miles away from Athens. She could not get him off of her mind so forty-eight hours later, she came back to that area in the hopes of finding him again.
That’s when the journey of gaining his trust begins. She gave him treats and even shared one with him. She showed him that she was eating the same thing and they were sharing the food.
The volunteer was very patient him. She did not show any sign that she was pressuring him to trust her. She was just patiently waiting for him to warm up to her.
The volunteer even asked the crew to leave her alone with her and within an hour, she was able to capture him. They named the big dog Arnie and brought him to the vet. Arnie was then checked and treated.
It seems that this huge dog is underweight. He also suffers from skin rashes caused by flea bites. Arnie was well behaved in the clinic, and the volunteer even helped Arnie to trust people again.
It turns out that he did not need much help when it comes to socializing as this dog is a people’s dog. He loves being around them and getting all the attention, something that he never had.
This well behaved and friendly dog is finally not alone and out on the streets with no permanent place to sleep. Arnie now has people who care for him and would do anything to find him a home. While he is waiting to be adopted, he is surrounded by people that are showing him what love is.
