DAR Animal Rescue received an anonymous tip that someone must have abandoned a family of dogs up in the mountains. Quickly, a group of their rescue volunteers headed out to search for the animals. Within a few minutes of searching, a little black dog, the mom, came out and walked straight to the rescuers.
The momma dog was friendly and kind. She wasn’t afraid of the rescuers so it was safe to assume that she spent time with humans. When the responders carried her, she didn’t fight back and let them do their job.
It was pretty easy to secure the momma dog. Getting close to the puppies, however, was a completely different story. The moment the little ones saw the rescuers, they ran and hid in the thick bush.
The puppies could be anywhere, the rescuers agreed. They looked in different directions to find the pups faster. Their job, however, wasn’t simple. The steep rock made it almost impossible for them to reach the pups.
The responders climbed down the rocky height as carefully as they could. Once they were at the bottom part of the hill, they found the puppies inside a small crevice in the rocks. Cautiously, they pulled out the puppies one by one and reunited them with their momma.
From the mountains, the furry family went straight to the vet’s office. They all received medical attention, and thankfully, none of them had any serious health issues. They needed treatment against fleas, but other than that, they were in perfect shape.
After a few days, the dogs left the clinic and joined their rescuers at the shelter. The momma dog, now named Helen, regained her strength and spent her time looking after her little ones. The puppies, meanwhile, grew in size and personality.
