Little kids found a senior Chihuahua at a parking garage in Los Angeles. Luckily, the kids knew about Hope for Paws and contacted them right away when they saw the dog.
A call for help
Eldad, founded of Hope for paws, responded to their call and swiftly arrived at the said area. The children told him that they viewed his YouTube videos, and that’s how they knew who to call for help.
The kids tried to call the scared dog while Eldad waited and observed how the dog reacted. When Eldad tried coming near him, the little chihuahua bolted in fear and ran underneath a parked car.
The rescuer thought that the medical masks that they wore didn’t help in getting the dog to trust them. A woman who lived nearby that fed the dog before came by to help.
The dog knew her before, so he trusted her to touch him, and that’s when they got the dog to calm down. Afterward, they worked together to get a leash on him.
Stimpy’s second chance
Eldad noticed how extremely long the dog’s nails were, so he knew that they must have hurt so badly. He brought the little dog to his car and wrapped him in a soft blanket to sit on for the ride. He decided to name the chihuahua Stimpy.
When they arrived at the shelter, they bathed the dog and had him medically checked out. Stimpy was too tired from living on the streets even to move his food. Eldad knew the dog just needed a little extra care and attention.
Eldad let him rest and recover before anything else. After spending a few days at the shelter, Stimpy evolved into a lively and playful dog that was finally ready to go to his foster home.
