Good Samaritans Nataly and Maria Madrigal called the local animal rescue group Hope For Paws late one night. They came across a small homeless dog hiding under a car inside a parking lot. They knew they needed help from experts to successfully bring the animal to safety.
Rescuer Eldad Hagar immediately drove to Nataly and Maria’s location. The women patiently waited for the rescuer for more than an hour since the location was a bit of a long drive from the city. Once Eldad got there, Nataly and Maria led the way and showed him where the dog went.
The rescuer knew he had to act quickly to prevent the animal from running away. He asked Nataly and Maria to help him enclose the vehicle with portable plastic fencing. Once that was done, Eldad was able to inspect the spot where the dog hid.
Eldad was relieved to see that the dog was within reach with the use of a gentle snare. He carefully slid the snare under the car and slowly extended it toward the dog. He wasn’t sure if the animal had any injuries and he didn’t want to stress it further, so he worked slowly and gently as he could.
Once the rescuer had the gentle snare in position, he expertly looped it in on the dog. He then slowly pulled the animal out from under the vehicle. After a couple of tugs, Eldad successfully secured the dog.
Eldad thanked Nataly and Maria for their help and got ready for the drive back. He wanted to bring the dog to CARES Veterinary Facility as soon as possible. He worried that it needed urgent medical care so he wasted no second.
The doctors at CARES, fortunately, gave the dog an all-clear, which relieved Eldad. Fellow rescuers Alex Babcock and Katie McKittrick then gave the animal a much-needed bath. They also decided to name the female dog Destiny.
Although Destiny was physically fit, she was still a sad and withdrawn dog. But in her foster home, she made huge progress. She transformed into a happy, fun-loving animal. In no time, she found her new fur mom, and she now lives contentedly in her forever home.
