After Bark bar in London took the cocktail experience to the next level by serving up plant-based refreshments to dogs brought by their owners. It is one of the many entertainment centers for man’s furry best friend provided by the Barkney Wick community in the Hackney Wick area. Aside from the bar, they also have dog daycare services as well as cafés.
Jamie Swan, the owner of the bar, knew the feeling of being a dog parent. You want to have a life but there will be always an inevitable sad feeling when you have to leave your dogs alone because they are not allowed to places you want to go. Especially with the undue stress brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, it would be nice to ease some of the not-so-nice feelings by sharing your social life with your best buddies.
Not to mention that many who adopted or fostered dogs during quarantine may experience some separation anxiety.
The puptails available for order skip on the alcohol, instead, the dogs are treated to some delectable carrot juice known as the Howlapaw Sling or a mix of apple and raw beet juices called the Great Expawlor. Aside from those, the owners can also order a Bloodhound Mary or Barkarita for their dogs while they sip on their own choice of drink.
And here is one pup who is definitely relaxing with a drink.
When the bar opened, many of the customers who first tried it were new dog owners who adopted dogs during the lockdown. One of them was Abigail Davis who adopted a pug named Coco after she felt that she can finally provide attention and care to a dog as she worked from home. And Tom and Laurence adopted the Labrador Bertie for the same reason.
After Bark is definitely a place where cocktail-loving dog owners can enjoy themselves and bring along their pups, knowing that they would be in a relaxed atmosphere.
