At some point in our life, we get a bit overwhelmed with choosing the right career path for us. But while most of us are still confused about which job to undertake, this adorable Dachshund already had his career choices figured out.
Meet Archie, a sausage dog from New South Wales, Australia, who has decided to join the ranks of the sheepdogs on their farm. Although all of the herding canines in their ranch are border collies, Archie proved that he could be as good as them at herding, too.
Ebony Hewitt, the dachshund’s mom, shared how little Archie discovered his love for herding. Ever since he was a puppy, he had always been fascinated by how the big dogs skillfully round up their flocks. In fact, every time Archie accompanies Ebony in her farm rounds, the pooch always looked like he really wanted to be in the field.
One time, Ebony decided to test his skills at rounding up the sheep. She allowed him on the field and immediately found out just how useful of a pooch he really is. She officially let him be a sheepdog shortly after.
While Archie’s little legs make him slower than the border collies, his small physique proves to be a significant advantage at getting around the flock quickly. All those years of watching the border collies in action had also become Archie’s stepping point towards his sheep herding career.
Aside from being a top-notch sheepherder, the dachshund also gets along pretty well with the rest of the herding pack. In fact, it is quite safe to say that the border collies already accepted him into their ranks. They would all hang out together after a long day’s work and chill at the trough before heading back inside the house. Watch him in action here.
