After getting stuck in the icy Detroit River for four days, this dog named Miracle got rescued by Jude Mead. In a Facebook post by the Friends of the River Rouge Animal Shelter, it was Jude who helped retrieve the pooch from the cold river.
A coyote might have chased Miracle, so he ended up on the river. The dog had to endure the bitter cold for four days before Jude rescued him through an airboat.
After he got rescued, Miracle was then brought to a nearby clinic. At the clinic, he got checked for possible injuries he might have sustained. The veterinarian who checked on the dog found out that Miracle suffered from dehydration and frostbite. These conditions arose due to his long stay on the ice.
Despite his condition, though, Miracle fought hard for his life. He was later declared safe by the veterinarian, saying the dog helped himself to recover quickly. When he recuperated, the dog got scanned for a microchip to know who owns him. However, the hospital did not detect any microchips, so they thought that the dog is a stray.
Since he was a stray, the dog made his way to the River Rouge Animal Shelter, where he was taken care of by volunteers. At the shelter, the volunteers saw the other side of the dog. According to the volunteers, Miracle is a lively and loving dog. As such, they wanted to help the dog get adopted as soon as possible.
The volunteers then put up an announcement about the dog’s possible adoption. According to the shelter, they received numerous adoption requests for the dog. However, when Jude heard that the dog is up for adoption, he stepped in and volunteered. With this, the volunteers knew that Jude is the most deserving of taking good care of Miracle.
