Bonafide dog lovers are always ready to befriend any furry pupper that comes their way. And that is exactly what Melissa did when a friendly Golden Retriever named Oliver showed up at her gate.
Melissa shared that when they moved into the neighborhood nine years ago, Oliver visited her right away. It was like this fluffy pooch was part of the neighborhood’s welcoming committee. Being the dog mom herself, Melissa let Oliver in so that he could play with her fur babies.
Fast forward to today, Oliver is already 14 years old, and he could barely see and hear anything. But despite these changes, the wandering senior pup still visits Melissa every day. Oliver would be at her gate around seven in the morning, and it basically became a routine for them.
Melissa would welcome the pooch with a smile, and Oliver would head right in as if Melissa’s house was also his. But given how close Melissa and the doggo had become, this isn’t too far from the truth. The pooch even goes to their fridge to ask for food, and sometimes he makes his way up the stairs and into the bedrooms.
Oliver’s owner, Sue, stated that she allowed her fur baby to visit their neighbor because the pooch always found his way back home. They also have a GPS device on the pooch, just in case Oliver would stray away. Luckily, they haven’t used it yet because the doggo always stayed on course whenever walking between the two houses.
This senior pup is extremely lucky that he’s got an owner that lets him go outside any time he likes. Almost all dog parents are pretty strict regarding their fur babies going outside because they are afraid their pups would get lost. If you wish to let your doggo wander around like Oliver, make sure that it’s allowed in your city and that they are microchipped, just for safe measure.
