For humans, it is essential to have a healthy mind and a healthy body. For them to achieve this, it is vital to engage in physical activities like having a sport or doing exercise. Even doctors make known the importance of exercising at least twice a week to prevent health problems like diabetes or hypertension. Dogs are also part of this narrative, especially those who work alongside uniformed personnel.
We are no strangers to pooches being used as police dogs because of their strong senses like smell. But because of the nature of the job, pooches who pose as police dogs often get stressed too. This is why it is encouraged that the dog should have an outlet to release stress like a leisure activity.
A police dog and his trainer are expected to be agile and alert almost all the times, and this could be improved if they have a conditioned physique. One of the things they could do to achieve this is through exercise. In most police stations in the United States, there are in-house gyms where the dog and his trainer could do strengthening exercises.
In an Instagram post, a K9 named Oscar was being carried by a still unnamed police officer while the latter was on a treadmill. The video showed how happy the dog was although the treadmill exercise was done in a rather odd way – the police carrying the dog instead of the dog running on the machine.
The video has since then generated traction on Instagram, and many netizens approved of the dog’s cuteness. They said the dog seemed to have fun with no effort at all.
In a separate Instagram video, meanwhile, the duo did another form of exercise, this time targeting the legs. Just like the first exercise on a treadmill, it was the police officer who made most of the effort by carrying the dog while doing the leg exercise.
